A Weekend in Durham

A weekend with the girls!  This time we were heading to see Natalie in Durham.  Durham is a beautiful city just two hours north of Hull.  After a short train ride I was thrilled to meet up with Natalie, Christy, Rebecca and Stephanie.  We spent Friday night doing our usual catch up and having a good time.  Saturday morning we took a walk into the town center and went to Durham Cathedral.  This was such a beautiful area.  The best part was the climb to the top of the tower.  After 325 steps in a nice tight circle to the top we were greeted with an amazing view.  Another fun fact is that parts of Harry Potter were filmed at the cathedral.  Yes I was standing where Harry Potter once stood.  Check that off the list!

Look familiar? Yay Harry Potter!

Just taking a quick break from climbing.
Before heading home on Sunday we went to Beamish to pretend we lived in older times.  It was great to just wander around their little town and visit old school rooms, churches, shops and farms.  We also had some nice history lessons from the workers in the town.  The dentist was a favorite as he taught us about using cocaine to deal with the pain and showed us evil tools that were used to pop out a tooth or two.  Must say I am thrilled for modern health care!  Another great weekend out and about.

Double toilets?  Ok then.

Yep that's my cannon.

Just let me see the safe for a few minutes!

Ice skating anyone?
